All products on this site contain hemp-derived extracts from the stalks, stems, and mature seeds of industrial hemp plants, compliant with federal definitions under the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018 (2018 Farm Bill). Hemp is defined as cannabis with delta-9 THC levels below 0.3% on a dry-weight basis. Our extracts vary by type:

  • Full Spectrum Hemp Extract: Contains <0.3% delta-9 THC, plus trace cannabinoids and terpenes.
  • Broad Spectrum Hemp Extract: THC-free (non-detectable levels), with other cannabinoids and terpenes.
  • CBC Distillate: Mainly CBC being THC-free (non-detectable levels), with other trace cannabinoids.
  • Delta 8 THC: Mainly delta-8 THC containing <0.3% delta-9 THC, plus trace cannabinoids.
  • HHC Distillate: Mainly hexahydrocannabinol containing <0.3% delta-9 THC, plus trace cannabinoids.
  • CBD Isolate: Pure CBD, no THC or other cannabinoids.
  • CBG Isolate: Pure CBG, no THC or other cannabinoids.
  • CBN Isolate: Pure CBN, no THC or other cannabinoids.

All products undergo third-party laboratory testing for potency, purity, contaminants (e.g., pesticides, heavy metals, microbes), and compliance with THC limits. Certificates of Analysis (COAs) are available for download here.

Product-Specific Legal and Safety Notes

General Hemp-Derived Cannabinoids (CBD-Focused Products)

Non-intoxicating CBD products are federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill if they meet THC thresholds. CBD may interact with liver enzymes, potentially affecting medication metabolism. Regular use could influence liver function markers—monitor with bloodwork if using long-term. The FDA continues to issue warnings against unapproved health claims for CBD products.

Delta-8 THC Products

Delta-8 THC is a psychoactive cannabinoid derived from hemp, with effects milder than delta-9 THC but still capable of causing intoxication, impairment, and positive drug tests. It is currently legal federally under the 2018 Farm Bill if <0.3% delta-9 THC by dry weight. State laws vary widely—some states have already banned or restricted delta-8. Do not operate vehicles, machinery, or engage in hazardous activities after use. Full responsibility for purchase, use, and compliance lies with the consumer.

Delta-9 THC Hemp-Derived Products

Hemp-derived delta-9 THC products (e.g., low-dose edibles or tinctures) are currently legal federally if the final product contains <0.3% delta-9 THC by dry weight, per the 2018 Farm Bill. These are psychoactive and may cause intoxication or trigger drug tests. Observe state-specific restrictions, as many jurisdictions already limit or prohibit them. Avoid driving or operating machinery. Consumer assumes all risks related to use and legality.

HHC (Hexahydrocannabinol) Products

HHC is a semi-synthetic psychoactive cannabinoid derived from hemp, with potency similar to delta-8 THC. It is currently federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill as a hemp derivative. State laws are inconsistent, with bans in place in several areas. Use may cause impairment and positive drug tests. Do not use before driving or handling machinery. Full liability rests with the user.

Tinctures and Oral Products

Our tinctures may include full-spectrum or broad-spectrum hemp extract, MCT oil, natural and/or artificial flavors, terpenes, and sweeteners. Discontinue use if allergic to any ingredient. Start with low doses—do not exceed recommended serving sizes or consume the entire bottle at once. Tinctures are for oral/sublingual use only; never vape them. CBD may cause drowsiness, dry mouth, or gastrointestinal upset. Stay hydrated and avoid alcohol or sedatives. If drowsiness occurs, refrain from driving or operating equipment. In case of overdose or adverse effects, contact poison control (1-800-222-1222) or a physician immediately. Long-term CBD use may impact liver enzymes; consult a doctor for monitoring.

Pet Tinctures

Formulated exclusively for dogs and cats, using broad-spectrum hemp extract, MCT oil, and pet-safe flavors. Verify no allergies before administration. Use low doses based on pet weight—never give the full bottle in one sitting. Provide ample water and food. May cause mild drowsiness or lethargy. Not for vaping. If your pet shows signs of distress (e.g., vomiting, tremors), stop use and contact a veterinarian urgently. Not evaluated for animal health claims; consult a vet for pet-specific advice. Human products are not safe for pets.

Hemp Flower and Smokable Products

Hemp flower resembles marijuana in appearance and aroma. Handle and store discreetly to avoid misunderstandings. Federally legal under current hemp definitions. Comply with local cannabis laws. Retain original packaging and COAs as proof of legality. Canna River is not liable for seizures, arrests, or fines due to misidentification.

Drug Testing and Impairment

All hemp-derived products, even broad-spectrum CBD, carry a risk of positive THC drug tests due to trace metabolites or cross-reactivity. Broad-spectrum or isolate options minimize this risk but do not eliminate it—higher doses increase likelihood. If drug testing impacts employment or activities, abstain entirely. Psychoactive products (delta-8, delta-9, HHC) are highly likely to trigger positives. Impairment varies by individual; always test tolerance responsibly. Operating a motor vehicle or heavy machinery after use is not advised.
