Canna River's CBD range uses five gummy flavors, four tincture flavors, three pet flavors and six topical scents — and three of those products contain no flavoring ingredient at all. The five gummy flavors are identical across all eight CBD gummies, and the four tincture flavors are identical across all eight CBD tinctures, so the choice is the same whichever strength you buy.
The full flavor index
| Format | Options | What provides the taste |
|---|---|---|
| Gummies (all eight) | Fuji Apple, Passion Orange Guava, Pink Watermelon, Red Berry, Strawberry Mango | Natural flavors, with citric acid and sodium malate for tartness |
| Tinctures (all eight) | Natural, Lemon Raspberry, Mango Peach, Sweet Mint | Food-grade flavor and sucralose — except Natural, which has neither |
| Softgels (all four) | None | Nothing added; the fill is MCT oil and hemp extract inside a tapioca-starch shell |
| Pet tincture | Bacon, Chicken, Salmon | Pet-safe food-grade flavor, except Salmon, which uses wild Alaskan salmon oil |
| Pet treats | Bacon, Chicken, Peanut Butter | Real food: bacon, chicken, or peanut flour |
| Body Balm | Chamomile, Lavender, Cooling, Warming | Essential oils and botanical extracts |
| Body Lotion | Rosemary, Unscented | Rosemary leaf oil, or nothing |
The gummy flavors have identical ingredient lists
Line up Fuji Apple, Passion Orange Guava, Pink Watermelon, Red Berry and Strawberry Mango side by side and the lists match word for word: tapioca syrup, sugar, pectin, hemp distillate, natural flavors, citric acid, sodium malate, natural color deriving from fruit and vegetable juices, and stevia. The flavor and the color are the only things that differ, and neither is itemized further on the label. That is normal — "natural flavors" is a legitimate collective term under US labeling rules — but it does mean the ingredient list won't tell you which fruit is doing the work in Red Berry.
The two acids are worth a sentence. Citric acid supplies the sharp front note. Sodium malate is the sodium salt of malic acid, the acid that dominates in apples; here it rounds the sourness and buffers the pH rather than spiking it. Together they are why a pectin gummy made mostly of sugar and tapioca syrup doesn't taste flat.
Three of the four tincture options differ in one ingredient
| Tincture flavor | Flavoring listed | Sweetener |
|---|---|---|
| Natural | None | None |
| Lemon Raspberry | Natural & Artificial Food-Grade Flavor | Sucralose |
| Mango Peach | Natural Food-Grade Flavor | Sucralose |
| Sweet Mint | Natural Food-Grade Flavor | Sucralose |
Lemon Raspberry is the only tincture flavor in the range that lists artificial flavoring. Mango Peach and Sweet Mint are natural flavor only. Natural is two or three ingredients total — MCT oil, hemp distillate, and any isolate the formula calls for — and tastes like hemp, because there is nothing else in the bottle.
One more wrinkle: the two CBD + CBN tinctures also list an added terpene blend, which no other tincture does. More on what distillates and isolates are in distillate vs isolate.
Sweeteners, by format
This is the comparison most people are actually after, and it isn't on any product page in one place.
| Product | Sweetener |
|---|---|
| All CBD gummies | Sugar and tapioca syrup, with stevia |
| Flavored tinctures | Sucralose |
| Natural tincture | None |
| All softgels | None |
| Pet tincture | None |
| Pet treats | Maple syrup in Bacon, honey in Peanut Butter, none in Chicken |
If you want hemp extract with nothing sweet attached, the Natural tincture and the softgels are the two that qualify. For the full ingredient picture on each, see what's in a Canna River gummy and the four softgels by the numbers.
The pet flavors work differently from the human ones
The treats are flavored with food, not flavoring. Bacon treats list bacon and maple syrup; Chicken lists chicken, carrots and spinach; Peanut Butter lists peanut flour and honey. All three are built on wheat flour, oats, organic coconut oil and broad spectrum hemp extract.
The tinctures split. Bacon and Chicken use a pet-safe food-grade flavor. Salmon doesn't use any flavoring compound — it lists wild Alaskan salmon oil as the second ingredient, ahead of the hemp, and gets its taste from that. It is the only Canna River product flavored entirely by a functional ingredient.
Two flavors exist in only one format: Salmon is tincture only, and Peanut Butter is treat only. Bacon and Chicken are the two you can get either way. Details and strengths are in the pet tincture and treats guide.
Frequently asked questions
Do the different flavors contain different amounts of CBD?
No. Within a product, every flavor carries the same cannabinoid amounts and the same price. Flavor is a separate choice from strength.
Which Canna River products have no added flavor?
The Natural tincture, all four softgels, and the Unscented Body Lotion. The Salmon pet tincture has no flavoring compound either, though salmon oil gives it a strong taste.
Are the gummies colored with dye?
The label says "Natural Color (deriving from fruit & vegetable juices)." The one place an added colorant appears in the range is the Lavender Body Balm, which lists CI 60725. See balm vs lotion.
Is the sweetener in the tinctures sugar?
No. The three flavored tinctures use sucralose. Sugar and tapioca syrup appear in the gummies only.
Are the gummy flavors the same across the whole gummy range?
Yes. All eight CBD gummies — the standard and Ultra versions of Classic, Calm, CBD + CBN and CBD + CBG — come in the same five flavors.
