Say Goodbye To Summer With a CBD Piña Colada

Say Goodbye To Summer With a CBD Piña Colada

It is never too late in the summer to make fresh and fruity cocktails. So before you whip out the pumpkin spice, here are some tricks (with recipe!) to making the perfect pineapple CBD cocktail.

The best way to make a cocktail using a CBD oil tincture is to recruit the assistance of a blender, or bust out your shaker and prepare for an arm workout. (If you don’t shake it well, you’ll end up with oil kind of floating on top of your drink. Nobody wants that!)

Have no fear though. MCT oil, which is the oil carrier in our premium broad spectrum and full spectrum CBD oil tinctures, gets frothy when it’s blended. In fact, its consistency is so creamy, that when people add MCT oil to their coffee in a blender, it looks like there’s cream in it.

So let’s get into it.

As you probably know, piña coladas are made with sweetened cream of coconut, frozen pineapple, lime juice and rum. Some recipes also call for ice, pineapple juice, and/or unsweetened coconut milk to cut the richness of the mixture. (Some people even like to add a splash of Kahlúa!)

In this recipe, we are skipping the rum and adding high potency CBD. Here is the cool part: cream of coconut naturally contains MCT oil already, so adding a bit more isn’t going to change its texture. You won’t even notice it. This makes any drink that contains it particularly great for mixing CBD tinctures into. (Tip: Feel free to make your favorite recipe off the Internet if ours doesn’t suit your fancy. Just blend the dropper of CBD oil in with the cream and follow the rest of the recipe as listed!)

For a CBD piña colada, we recommend using one of our Natural broad or full spectrum tinctures at your desired strength. The drink mixture is often plenty sweet (if the pineapple is ripe enough before it’s frozen). One of our flavored tinctures, however delicious, may put the sweetness level over the edge for some folks.

Ingredients  (Makes 1 - 2 servings)

  • 1 - 2 Droppers of Canna River Natural CBD Tincture (Strength and spectrum of your choice.)
  • 3 ounces cream of coconut (People typically use Coco Lopez.)
  • 3 ounces pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup cubed frozen pineapple
  • 1 1/2 cup ice
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • Slices of fresh pineapple and/or maraschino cherries for garnish

Directions

Option 1

Put all of the ingredients in a blender. Pour the cream of coconut, pineapple juice and CBD first, then add the rest. Purée. Serve and garnish with a slice of fresh pineapple and/or maraschino cherry.

Option 2

For a thicker consistency, do not add the CBD at first. Instead, blend everything else. After blending the mixture till smooth, put it in the freezer for 25 minutes or so. This will allow it to thicken a bit. Then add the CBD and give it a few more pulses on the blender to make the perfect slushy CBD cocktail. Pour and garnish.

Enjoy!
